Regional Gatherings

Every touch point between Abiders is meaningful because it brings us back to the connection we felt when we were together at our gathering. If you would like any support in organizing a local/regional gathering for Abiders or potential Abiders, please email grace@abidegathering.org. David would be happy to try and join if schedules align.

ABIDE ZOOM CONVERSATIONS - SPRING 2025

We invited the Abide community and friends to join us for these Zoom conversations, featuring the same breakout sessions offered at our 2024 annual gathering. The purpose of these meetings was to give everyone a chance to attend all three conversations.

Taking on the Easy Yoke of Jesus (February 2025)

Are you feeling weary, burdened or anxious? In this webinar, Tracy Mathews guided us through practices to help us become aware of how Jesus is already present and helping us in our existing circumstances, enabling us to find rest for our soul.

As the founder of Attune, Tracy is honored to be tasked with cultivating spiritually-attuned leadership within an array of inspiring organizations. Attune offers tools and training to help teams slow down, listen deeply, and tap into more of God’s guidance for the decision making, strategic direction setting, and team building of organizational leadership.

We Are Liminality and We Don’t Have to Choose a Side (March 2025)

As multiracial, and bicultural individuals, many of us have grown up being told we weren't the “full” or “whole” version of our ethnicity, or we’ve had our Asian American identity challenged. In this webinar, Tasha Jun read from her book, Tell Me the Dream Again, which tells her journey of moving from rejection to embracing who she is. Attendees had the opportunity to work on an identity statement that captures the fullness of their multiracial, or multicultural identity in an interactive time that welcomed communal affirmation.

Tasha is a mixed race Korean American melancholy dreamer with a contemplative soul. She grew up in a multicultural and biracial home and because of that, she’s spent her life navigating cultural collisions and liminal space. She sees the world best through stories and poetry. She is passionate about helping others notice beauty and embrace themselves as wholly beloved. She writes about everyday life, faith, and cultural and ethnic identity; writing has always been the way she’s found hope and shalom. She lives in the greater Indianapolis area with her family and is currently a student Spiritual Director.

The Parent's Guide to College, Career, & Calling in Our Modern World (May 2025)

Are you worried about your child’s future in a rapidly changing world? In this webinar, Andy offered five practical strategies to help you confidently guide your child from high school to a meaningful career and life, rooted in Christian values. Attendees had the opportunity to gain the tools needed to support their child’s path with hope and purpose.

Andy is the Vice President of Wake Forest University where he leads their career innovation and development initiatives for students and alumni. He has been a leader in talent identification and development in both corporate and higher education for over 25 years, and was an executive at Stanford Business School and several edtech startups prior to Wake Forest. He lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife Kathryn, and has three adult children.

JANUARY - MAY 2025 | Abide Community Groups

For Past Abide Attendees: One of the most powerful ways we can experience connection, healing, and growth is through being in an intentional, safe conversation group with others. We piloted two groups in 2025: a women's group led by Jean Park and Nancy Chan, and a men's group led by David Park and DJ Chuang. Groups met on a bi-weekly rhythm from January to May 2025.

FALL 2024 | Virtual Book Club:
The Deepest Place by Curt Thompson

For Past Abide Attendees: Join Abider Nancy Chan for a virtual book club on Curt Thompson’s latest book, The Deepest Place: Suffering and the Formation of Hope. Over three meetings from mid-October to early December, members will read, share, and engage in rich discussions.

ABIDE ZOOM CONVERSATIONS - SPRING 2024

We invited the Abide community and friends to join us for these Zoom conversations, which were the same conversation topics that we split up for at the 2023 Abide Gathering. The purpose of these meetings was to give everyone a chance to attend all three conversations.

Generational Blessings and Burdens (February 2024)

Jean Park led a conversation about how to discern whether the stories we are living out of from our family of origin are blessings or burdens. She discussed how to redeem those that are burdens so that we can pass on those that are blessings for the next generation.

Jean has her Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary. She is currently practicing as a soul coach with clients all over the world. She lives in New York City with David and their three teen/tween boys.

The Beauty and Practice of Sabbath (April 2024)

Drew Hyun led a conversation about how to see sabbath for the life giving gift that it is. He has been faithfully practicing sabbath for over ten years and will share how to practically implement this gift in our busy lives.

Drew is the lead pastor of Hope Church NYC, a family of three churches in New York City that have planted six other churches in the Hope Church network. He's a leader in the Emotionally Healthy Discipleship movement as well as the New City Network of urban churches. He lives in New York City with Christina and their two children.

Career and Life Vision (May 2024)

Andy Chan led a conversation about how we can think holistically about our careers and develop a personal life vision that is aligned with our beliefs and values. His workshop is a practical, insightful guide that has been taught for nearly 20 years.

Andy is the Vice President of Wake Forest University where he leads their career innovation and development initiatives for students and alumni. He has been a leader in talent identification and development in both corporate and higher education for over 25 years, and was an executive at Stanford Business School and several edtech startups prior to Wake Forest.
